Just to Clarify...

Your offers of monetary support are all noted and appreciated.

The main financial issue at the outset was simply the mechanism by which the software license would be purchased. That has been taken care of by one generous individual in the interest of expediting the process by eliminating the collection step. Debates are currently underway as to whether the rest of us will be allowed to share this cost retroactively or not.

In the meantime, though, no one should feel as if they're missing the boat by not having figured out how to make a donation; with this one exception, nobody has made a donation.

Because monetary contributions raise issues beyond the simple mechanics of collection and distribution -- such as what sort of say, if any, a contributor may be entitled to in policy decisions -- it's probably best if we all concentrate for now on getting this operation up and running, and discuss those issues later.

  1. FYI, we have gone through the same transition that your going though today. When NoWonder was sold most folks disbanded but a group reestablished a new location http://www.techsurvivors.net/
It took a lot of work and dedication by members who dicided that public donations would at some point require a tax # or a 5013c so we just worked it out among the Founders and found ways to keep the expenses low.

If you have any questions or if we can help in anyway, just drop by as I suspect we will drop by your new site when it's up and running.

    Good Luck.
